During this presentation, participants will learn exactly who this “disabled” audience is and how to find them. They will learn what accessibility REALLY looks like and get instructions on using the amazing Birdability Map. They will learn the steps to implement Birdability in their locales and learn ways to be a more welcoming and inclusive birder. Finally, they will learn about resources for birders with accessibility challenges because birding is for everybody!

The workshop will be held at FeatherFest headquarters on the second floor. Access features include ample disabled parking, curb cuts, ramps, automatic doors, assisted elevator operation, and accessible restrooms. The area outside the building also offers wide paved sidewalks and a patio with shade and benches; there are no steps, gates, or obstacles. There are no accessible water fountains.

Birdability Founder Virginia Rose will also be guiding two field trips for FeatherFest this year – For those who are registered for either trip, this workshop is included in the field trip cost. Others are welcome and encouraged to register as well!
