Sibley O’Haver

Sibley O’Haver is a 7 year old outdoor adventure and nature lover. With a name like Sibley, you can be sure she enjoys birds. Sibley was born in the Rio Grande Valley and has spent most of her life in Texas State Parks making friends, hiking trails, and looking at birds. She also is a big fan of Disney Princess movies, kayaking, fishing and beach combing. Sibley’s favorite bird changes as often as her favorite princess. She loves looking at most any bird, but owls, hummingbirds and woodpeckers always get her attention along with anything pink or purple.

Sibley’s Dad (AKA Kyle O’Haver) is the current Assistant Superintendent of Galveston Island State Park. Kyle has been an avid birder and birding guide for 10 years. He started his birding passion as a young boy chasing Wild Turkeys through the woods of his grandparents’ farm. After graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a BS in Park Recreation and Tourism, he landed his first full time position at Estero Llano Grande State Park and World Birding Center where he spent six years guiding visitors from all over the world to find those South Texas Specialties. This is also where Sibley was born and started her birding passion, too. After six years and adding another little adventurer to the family, Kaleb O’Haver, Kyle moved to become a Superintendent at Lake Colorado City State Park in West Texas. Four years of adventures and birding later, Kyle landed his family here in Galveston where they go birding and fishing as often as they can.
