SUMMARY:📷Texas City Dike Photo Trip
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nThe Texas City Dike is the longest man-made fishing pier in the world.  It stretches 5.3 miles into Galveston Bay.  This means that birds like sandpipers and turnstones can be found on both sides of the dike feeding in shallow water.  In addition\, gulls and terns are regularly flying along the dike as they hunt for food. \nWhat to Expect:  We’ll slowly drive along the dike and stop for interesting photo opportunities.  Participants should be prepared to walk along the sandy shoreline\, stand on the shoulder of the road\, and maybe climb over rock or two.  Prepare for wind and cool temperatures. \nWhat to Bring & Equipment Needed:  Water\, snacks\, sunscreen\, and insect repellent\, and wear closed-toed walking shoes.  With regards to equipment\, best results are possible with a lens in the 400mm to 700mm range.  A handheld lens is best since we might quickly jump out of our cars for unexpected action. We’ll be close to the cars most of the time. \nImportant Information:  This is a meet-at-site trip. Driving directions will be emailed prior to the trip. \nAbout Kathy Adams Clark \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
