Festival Birding Bus Loading Area – Old Galveston Square

Join us as we travel to Houston on the FeatherFest Express for an unforgettable evening with renowned American ornithologist, author and illustrator, David Allen Sibley! His presentation, “The Art of Identification,” and a book signing will be held at the United Way of Houston headquarters. Leave the driving to us and visit with other nature enthusiasts aboard your own private bus. Boxed suppers of freshly made sandwiches and all the trimmings and bottled water will be provided. And if you’d like, you’re welcome to bring your own drinks of choice.

David Sibley is the author and illustrator of The Sibley Guide to Birds, considered by many to be the most comprehensive guide for North American field identification. He began painting birds when he was seven years old and continued painting them for over three decades. Sibley is recognized as America’s leading ornithologist/illustrator and the preeminent brand in American birding. His presentation is sponsored by the Houston Audubon Society, Wells Fargo Advisors, Houston Wilderness, Galveston Bay Foundation, Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, Rice University Shell Center for Sustainability, and Center for the Study of Environment and Society. The FeatherFest Express is hosted by two of FeatherFest’s local birding experts, Alice Anne O’Donell and Mort Voller.

The schedule for the evening is outlined below.

4:45 p.m. – Registrants arrive at festival bus loading area, Old Galveston Square, 2215 Strand,downtown Galveston.
5:00 p.m. – Bus departs Galveston.
6:30 p.m. (approx.) – Bus arrives at United Way.
6:30 p.m. – Auditorium opens for seating & book signing.
7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. – David Sibley presentation.
9:00 p.m. – Book signing opportunity.
9:30 p.m. – Bus departs United Way for Galveston.
10:45 p.m. – Bus returns to Old Galveston Square.
