ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN ON DECEMBER 2!

QUICK GUIDE TO REGISTRATION….READ THIS BEFORE YOU REGISTER

There’s so much to do at FeatherFest 2014, with more than 100 field trips, workshops and social events to choose from! Below is a step-by-step guide to help you navigate our Web site and decide what to register for. On-line registration is recommended as the most secure, quickest, easiest and best way to ensure your spot in festival activities. The online system is “real time,” and if spots are open, they will be reserved for you as soon as you check the box.

Note: Most field trips leave early, and except for a few designated “meet at site" trips, meeting the trip at site is not allowed. Please stay in or near Galveston.

Step 1:

Download the Events by Day schedule for the days you will attend: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. These charts are helpful when planning your itinerary and the best tool to see a complete overview of the schedule of events.

Step 2:

Identify the activities on the schedule that you’re interested in and read their descriptions via the links below. Birds and habitats most likely to be seen, the recommended skill level, what to bring, mode of transportation and other details are included in hopes of preparing you for the most enjoyable experience possible. Some activities are offered more than once, so note the different days and times listed above the descriptions. I have children?

For children ages 6 and up, we are excited to announce the addition of FledglingFest to our 2014 FeatherFest birding program. We have designed three brand new activities specifically for children and their grown-ups! We also recommend the Turtle Research Station Tour for children ages 6 and up.

As birders understand, some trips can be long, tiring and test their stamina. Many outings require birders to proceed with stealth and be able to listen to quiet whisperings of the leader and, for these reasons, we do not allow babies or toddlers on any of our trips or in our workshops. Children of all ages, however, are more than welcome to visit our Birders’ Bazaar or our free raptor shows.

How much does it cost…

To attend a field trip or workshop?

The fee for each activity is listed above its description. All activities are priced separately.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes, a $25 registration fee is automatically applied to each registration to help us cover overhead expenses. GINTC Members pay a $22 registration fee. There is no registration fee if you only attend Social Evening Events. There is also no registration fee for the FledglingFest events.

What events are free?

So glad you asked! The Birders on Broadway, the Raptor Shows, photography equipment demonstrations, Birders’ Bazaar, and all Digiscoping Workshops are free.

Are there any registration discounts?

Yes, Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council, (GINTC) members receive 10% off all festival fees. The Council supports nature tourism and education, promotes the value of area natural habitat and organizes FeatherFest. Membership fees are $35 for individual membership and $70 for family membership. We invite you to join GINTC by clicking on the GINTC Member / New Member button when registering.

About registration and cancelations:

When does online registration close?

Sunday, April 6, at Midnight.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Payment may be made by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or check.

Is there any other way to register than online?

Yes, you may register by mail. However, on-line registration is recommended as the most secure, quickest, and best way to ensure your spot in festival activities. By the time we receive your registration in the mail, some of the events you’re interested in may already be filled. This is why we recommend on-line registration.

How do I register by mail?

Please click here download the registration form. Complete the form and submit it with credit card information or check to Galveston FeatherFest, P.O. Box 1468, Galveston, TX, 77553-1468. Checks must be full payments made payable to "FeatherFest."

What if I have to cancel? Will I get a refund?

We hope you don’t have to cancel your registration, but if you do, FeatherFest will refund 100% of the registration costs less the registration fee through March 28; 50% of total less registration fee through April 4; and there will be no refunds beginning April 5. Cancellations may be made by telephone (832.459.5533) or email featherfest@gintc.org.

What happens if events are cancelled?

Galveston FeatherFest organizers reserve the right to cancel events for any reason or to substitute qualified presenters or trip leaders when necessary. If Festival organizers must cancel an event, a full refund will be issued, unless otherwise noted. Water-based field trips are more affected by weather conditions than others. Every effort will be made to place participants in an alternate event, in which case refunds will not be given. If an alternate event is not available, a full refund will be given upon request prior to the end of the festival, at the Registration desk.
