Explore the world of beach landscapes and abstracts, using the simplicity of sand, sky, water, and even long exposures to create surreal images. Bring your polarizers and neutral density filters, if you have them, along with camera, tripod, and cable release, along with your imagination. Interesting things happen when you photograph at night. Water blurs and objects take on an unworldly appearance. On this field trip, you will work with long exposures while photographing around one of Galveston's famous fishing piers. Participants will photograph waves from sunset through twilight and into the dark of night. You will work with slow shutter speeds, high-dynamic range, and filters. The tip of the Bolivar Peninsula offers a wide variety of photographic opportunities and who better to explore those with than Kathy Adams Clark! The trip will begin with the sunrise across the Houston Ship Channel and an opportunity to photograph birds around the ferry landing. From there we go to the North Jetty for an opportunity to photograph American Avocets and other wading birds. Finally, the group will photograph wading birds in several marshes nearby. Locations are subject to change based on tide, wind, and location of the birds.
